In 1982 I bought a 1972 280SE 4.5 in Dove white and dark blue MB Tex interior with 100,000 miles. The valve guide seals leaked and it smoked something terrible. But I was as proud as I could be. I had the valve guide seals replaced , top end rebuilt, and proceeded to use it as my every day driver until 2002 where it had accumulated a total of 400,000 miles with no more difficulties. All I did was regular maintenance and kept up with minor repairs. That car was Bullitt proof. The interior remained beautiful and the drive train and engine solid. I had to let it go because of terminal rust in 2002. I donated it to our local PBS radio station. I missed that car so much that ended up buying another one in 2019. However this one is a 1971 280SE six cylinder, dove white, blue MB Tex, 36,000 original miles with a four on the floor manual transmission. I really like the 280 six cylinder and it is a hoot driving a big S class with four speed manual. Love your car.
